Meet Your School Board Members
Bob Cox
Bob Cox is currently serving in his third year as chairman of the ODCS school board. Bob has been married to Julie for 23 years, and they have two 8th grade students at the school, twins Sarah and Jeffrey, who have attended since kindergarten. The Cox family resides in Vermilion. Bob and Julie are members of Church of the Open Door, where Bob plays the guitar in the Kids’ Connection worship band. Professionally, he is a retail banker and currently is senior vice president of retail banking for Citizens Banking Company in Sandusky. Bob says that he and Julie chose Christian education for Sarah and Jeffrey “because God is central to life and education. An environment where God is acknowledged as Creator, is actively involved in His creation, and is having a posture of grace and love toward each person, provides the only context for truth to be taught. We are passionate about having the option of quality, Christian education in our area, and we are committed to supporting it.”
Kim Miraldi
Kim Miraldi is vice-chair of the ODCS school board. She has served in this role for two of the five years she has been on the board. She also serves as the committee chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. Kim has been married to John Miraldi, an attorney, for 21 years. They have three children who attend ODCS: Allison, a sophomore; Julia, an 8th grader; and Jeff, a 4th grader. All of the Miraldi children have attended ODCS since kindergarten. The Miraldi family resides in Elyria. Kim and John have been members of Church of the Open Door since 1994. She is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio where she earned a degree in marketing and business administration. Upon graduation, she was employed in product management for American Greetings Corporation. Kim enjoys strategic planning and pursuing goals using her organizational skills. As a family the Miraldis enjoy their time together relaxing, particularly during the summertime when they head to their vacation retreat at Lakeside. Kim says that she and John initially chose ODCS because they did not feel their local school system was very strong. However, she now feels that “the importance of a Christian education grows stronger for John and me every year. We are seeing so many benefits as our children get older, and see the results of all the Christian training in high school.”
Cindy Bublinec
Cindy Bublinec joined the ODCS school board in 2004. She has been married to Ken for 15 years. The Bulinecs have three children who attend the school: Amanda, a freshman; Lea, a 4th grader; and Jared, a 1st grader. The Bublinec family resides in Grafton. Cindy and Ken are members of Church of the Open Door, and Cindy also serves in the Children’s Ministry. Cindy has 20 years of experience in retail involving customer service, sales, marketing, and management. Currently, she is combining all of this professional experience into running her own business as a jeweler and representative for Premier Designs, a direct sales jewelry business that is operated on Christian principles. “Beyond my education and work experience, the most important attribute I bring to the board is my heart for the Lord and for Christian education. I believe God has entrusted me with three of His children, and I am to show them God’s Word and love, and how to be the best they can be by honoring and serving Him in all they do. As a board member, I believe that my responsibility extends beyond my three children to all of God’s children that are in this school.”
Tom Eschweiler
Tom Eschweiler has been a member of the ODCS board since 2006. His has been married to wife Charis for 18 years. Tom and Charis have three children who attend ODCS: Zack, a sophomore; Nick, a 7th grader; and Olivia, a 4th grader. The Eschweilers reside in Elyria and attend Church of the Open Door. Tom is a patent attorney and has his own law firm in Cleveland. The firm focuses on various areas of technology including semiconductor physics and processing, medical technology, software, and wireless and wireline communications. His clientele is international and provides him the opportunity to work with businesses in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The Eschweilers enjoy exercise, travel, reading, and good food. The family also enjoys board games, cards, biking, and snowboarding. “My vision for ODCS is for the school to be a challenging yet nurturing environment in which young men and women are developed with the necessary intellectual tools and character to be Godly men and women who exhibit excellence in whatever vocation they choose.”
Brian Gevry
Brian Gevry joined the board during the fall of 2007. He has been married to Kendra for 20 years, and is the son-in-law of Walt Sheffield, president of ODCS. Brian and Kendra have three children who attend ODCS: Taylor, a junior; Lindsey, an 8th grader; and Alec, a 3rd grader. The Gevrys reside in North Ridgeville. Brian and Kendra are members of the North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church where Brian currently serves on the church’s Administrative Board as Elder of Stewardship. Brian is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Boyd Watterson Asset Management, LLC, a nationally recognized investment advisory firm based in Cleveland. He has a master’s degree in business administration from Case Western Reserve University. Brian loves to spend time working outdoors, especially on his family property in Vermont, from where he originally comes. He also likes tinkering with his collection of farm tractors and related equipment, and attends tractor shows when he is able.
Jon Phillips
Jon Phillips served as an ODCS board member from 2002-03 and returned in 2006. Jon has been married to his wife Wendi for 18 years. They have two children who attend the school: Preston, an 8th grader; and Mallory, a 5th grader, both of whom have attended ODCS since kindergarten. Wendi serves on the staff at the school as a library aide. Jon, originally from northwestern Pennsylvania, and Wendy who is from western Ohio, met at Taylor University, a Christian university located in Indiana. The Phillips reside in Elyria. Jon is an application architect with National City Corp. Both he and Wendy enjoy traveling, dining out, and spending time with family and friends. Preston and Mallory keep them busy with sports, ballet, gymnastics, and schoolwork.. “ODCS has played a significant role in our family’s life,” says Jon. “The Christ-based education upon which ODCS’ past, present, and future is founded has impacted our children and has led to both of them accepting Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. The education that has been provided also has exceeded our expectations. We are so thankful for the staff and administration and for the personal interest they show our children.”
Susan Schrodt
Susan Schrodt has been a member of the ODCS board since 2006. Susan has been married to her husband Daniel, president of Jiffy of the Americas, for over 18 years. They have two children who attend ODCS: Danielle, a 7th grader; and Jessica, a 4th grader. The Schrodts reside in LaGrange. Susan is an avid horse lover who has owned and shown horses, mostly Morgans, for almost 30 years. She attends Church of the Open Door and enjoys studying the Bible with other women. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 19 years of experience in public accounting; she also specializes in serving nonprofit organizations. With this background, Susan contributes to the financial and operational aspects of the school and serves on the Finance Committee. “My desire is to do God’s will here at ODCS for His glory and for the furtherance of Christian education.”
Mitchell Zunich
Mitch Zunich has been a member of the ODCS board since 2005. Mitch has been married to his wife Lisa for 23 years. They have two sons: Neven, a sophomore; and Dane, an 8th grader, both of who are students at ODCS. Mitch is a CPA and a director and partner with Barnes Wendling CPAs, Inc., a public accounting firm. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Ashland University with an accounting and finance major. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of CPAs. Active in the community, he has previously served as president of the Lorain Rotary Club and the Lorain Palace Civic Theater. Currently, he is president of the Ashland University Alumni Association and a member of the Ashland University Board of Trustees. He also serves as Treasurer of the Lorain County Visitor’s Bureau and treasurer of the Amherst Salvation Army. The Zunich family attends Amherst Family Fellowship Church. “We chose a Christian education for Neven and Dane because living a life for God is the most important thing in life,” says Mitch. “Education is second. Knowing that the staff and parents are praying for the kids is so comforting. Teaching the kids how to pray and read their Bibles is so necessary and will be needed for their rest of their lives.” |
