More than 700 students applied and Amanda was interviewed by a panel of judges representing nursing, pharmacy, and radiology. The chosen interns will be paid and work in a select groups of Northeast Ohio Cleveland Clinic hospitals. Amanda was chosen to work in the Cardiology department where she will learn and document medical procedures including surgeries. At the conclusion of her internship, she will prepare a PowerPoint presentation of her experience.
Tom will be working as a NASA intern this summer and was chosen from 360 applicants. The Lewis/Educational and Research Collaborative Internship Program provides for 30 internships at NASA for students interested in careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Tom’s 8-week paid internship will be in the Mechanics and Life Predictions Branch of NASA. Interns will focus on analysis of composite materials using in-house and commercial software. The work will involve predicting the stress fields, deformation response, and failure levels of a variety of composite systems (polymer matrix, ceramic matrix, or metal matrix) in cooperation with the branch modeling group and other summer students.
