Academic All-Ohio Winner

Elyria, OH, April 23, 2009-The Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association (OHSBCA) has named the Open Door Christian Schools’ Lady Patriots Basketball Team as an Academic All-Ohio Team for its outstanding academic record.

Only five Ohio teams receive this honor. The ODCS team placed 4th with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.8971 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). The ODCS team will be honored with a plaque, presentation, and pizza party courtesy of the Ohio Army National Guard.

“The student athletes on our Lady Patriots Basketball Team are people of high integrity, character, and intelligence. They are deserving of this tremendous honor,” said ODCS High School Principal Darrell Dunckel. The team coach, Bud Turner added, “I am very proud of these young ladies; it is great to see them honored for their hard work and dedication, not just on the court but in the classroom.”

“We are certainly proud of our girls’ academic record,“ ODCS Athletic Director, Jason Penley, commented. “Congratulations on this prestigious award!” complimented Tom Barrick, Academic All-Ohio Chairman.
