A Quilt for Mitchell Drew Wilson

Mitchell Drew Wilson, a first grade student at ODCS, received a new liver on Thursday March 11, 2010 and his classmates have been rejoicing! Mitchell suffers from Biliary Atresia (a life threatening liver disease) and after several years on the transplant waiting list, he not only had the transplant surgery but is doing very well. The surgery was performed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. His classmates and all the students at ODCS have been praying and sending cards of encouragement. However, his buddies in 1st grade wanted him to feel especially loved and together with Mrs. Lyn Fowl made a quilt for Mitchell.

“Mitchell is my best buddy and I want him to get better,” said Ian Tucker who is in Mitchell’s class. “I know God is helping him.”

“We are so happy for Mitchell!” said Mrs. Linda Hardesty, ODCS 1st grade teacher. “We will be sending his work to the Ronald McDonald House where Mitchell is recovering so he can keep up.”

Mitchell and his family are so thankful for the individual who cared enough to become an organ donor and encourage others to become organ donors as well. “This gift is saving Mitchell’s life,” commented his mother, Heather Wilson. Ms. Wilson is a 1993 graduate of ODCS.
