EARTH SCIENCE
This is a science course that deals with the earth and other non-living things. The Bible record clearly states that God created the earth as a place for man to live, He created water for man to use, scenery for man to enjoy, He created gems and precious stones, and metals for tools and industry. The effect of sin on the creation is dramatic and extensive. The resultant changes are a course topic. God created laws to govern how the earth is to operate. This course will develop an appreciation for God's creation, explain how God's created laws work and interrelate, and attempt to develop in the student the importance of wise stewardship of our natural resources. Topics discussed include the weather, storms, gravity, density, use of the scientific method to solve problems, earthquakes, volcanoes, the solar system, water, erosion, and fossils.
Exploring Earth Science Prentice-Hall, 1997.

HEALTH
Health in the seventh grade starts with the study of what is meant by wellness as it applies to the core components of the Christian human experience. Each aspect of your being social, mental, physical, and spiritual is discussed as a part of the whole. This holistic introduction to the topic of health sets the framework for a more detailed structural study of the human body such as the skin, eyes, ears, and teeth. Consumer health habits relative to how products are marketed and how to use wisdom in the purchasing of healthy goods and services are also covered along with other topics relating to lifestyle, life expectancy issues, heredity, gender, and a general approach to diseases.
Perspectives on Health D.C. Heath and Co., 1994.

KEYBOARDING

Students will learn the alphabetic keyboard, the numbers and symbols, the numeric keypad, and/or work on increasing their speed and accuracy. We will use a computer program called MicroType Pro. published by South-Western Educational Publishing, 1997.

JUNIOR HIGH ENGLISH STUDIES
This course will emphasize the development of the foundational language skills necessary for a junior high student to be successful: parts of speech, sentence construction, paragraph development, reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling development, and study skills.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Seventh grade language arts prepares a foundation for the many fundamentals of junior high and high school English programs. Spelling, punctuation, accuracy, coherence, unity, and creativity are emphasized in writing. Students are instructed in writing properly structured paragraphs and essays. Our literary study opens the world of imagination beginning with a study of the earliest folk tales, fables, and myths; concluding with a study of various short stories, essays, and poems. Whether the unit is grammar, drama, or mystery, our goal is to expose the learner to the Creator of all language and communication. Parts of speech and vocabulary are studied in-depth.

Concepts, procedures, and vocabulary needed to succeed in upper-level mathematics courses are introduced and developed incrementally with continuous practice. Math 87 includes the study of fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, perimeter, circumference, area, volume, exponents, scientific notation, and signed numbers. Word problems provide the opportunity for students to develop problem-solving techniques and skills.

After completing this course, students will be ready for success in Algebra I and will be successful mathematic problem solvers. The teaching of concepts is foundational to a successful math understanding. If the concepts are developed through repetition, they can be applied to any situation.
