Regulation PE uniform is required for an A in participation.  Any infraction equals a failing grade in participation for that day!  Tardiness and uncooperative spirit also reduce your grade.  Non-participation days (due to improper dress) will equal a zero or a mark down in participation.

Detentions

Tardy to class, UnChristlike behavior, leaving the PE hallway before the bell rings, food in the locker rooms and chewing gum are all cause for detentions.

Medical Excuse Requirements for Physical Education

A student may be excused from Physical Education class, for medical purposes, for up to three days with a written excuse from a parent! A student that needs to be excused for more than three days must have a written excused from a medical doctor, trainer, or medical facility. This type of written excuse would cover a maximum of 10 days.  (two weeks)

For extended medical excuses, the following alternatives are recommended:

1.      Advise the student to drop the class and reschedule that class after the injury heals

2.      Drop the class and take Physical Education during summer school or next school year.

3.      At the discretion of the teacher, a combination of make-up assignments and modified physical activities could be assigned.

Samples:

1.      Swimming or swim lesson

2.      Stationary or regular biking

3.      Run/walk program

4.      Roller blading program

5.      Weight Training

The attending teacher parent and student must agree upon any modified program.  The student would keep a log of participation and the parent would oversee the student outside of the class and sign to verify participation.  One 30-minute session would equal one missed class.  If a student misses more that 12 days of class per semester he/she may be asked to repeat the physical education requirement during another semester.

A written report may also be assigned for make up work at the discretion of the teacher.

MAKE-UP PHYSICAL EDUCATION ASSIGNMENTS

A make-up assignment may be assigned for days absent (vacation, illness, or other

excused absences.)

Make up assignments are due within a week of your absence.  After a week your grade will be lowered.  Failure to do a make up assignment will cause a penalty in your grade!
