MISSION STATEMENT:
In partnership with the family and the local church, our mission is the salvation, the discipleship, and the education for life and service of the students entrusted to our care.
PHILOSOPHY:
Open Door Christian Schools (ODCS) are co-educational, preschool through grade twelve, college preparatory schools serving Christian families. Governed by a Board of Directors, ODCS is a non-profit, non-denominational institution, which was founded in 1976. ODCS is committed to the historic Christian perspective of life as set forth in the Bible, recognizing God as the creator of all things, the Holy Spirit as the convictor of the believer, and the Son of God as Savior of all who believe in Him.
ODCS is committed to the Judeo-Christian ethic and holds that the knowledge of God is the beginning of wisdom; that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant word of God; that fellowship with God is the basis for true fellowship with one another; that each student is uniquely created by God and is endowed with particular talents. Therefore, our aim is to function as an extension of the home, to nurture each student in his/her development as a whole person: spiritually, mentally, physically and socially- providing the opportunity to educate for eternity.
OBJECTIVES:
For the SPIRITUAL GROWTH of the students, ODCS aims:
- to teach the Bible as the Word of God, the source of doctrine and a guide for daily living.
- to teach the basic principles of the Christian faith.
- to encourage each student to enter into a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, honoring Him as Lord and Savior and seeking to know and do the will of God.
- to aid each student in the formation of a personal Christian philosophy which will impact every area of life.
- to impart an understanding of each Christian’s place in the Body of Christ and its worldwide mission.
For the INTELLECTUAL GROWTH of the students, ODCS aims:
- to teach the skills for effective communication, comprehension, and computation.
- to provide a curriculum which will furnish thorough preparation for each student’s future study.
- to stimulate creative and critical thinking.
For the SOCIAL GROWTH of the students, ODCS aims:
- to encourage an individual sense of personal worth as a special creation of God and as a recipient of His love.
- to foster the establishment of wholesome personal relationships through an acceptance of one another in Christian love, learning to understand and respect the views of others.
- to help students practice good citizenship, recognizing and assuming their responsibilities to their families, their school, their community, and their country.
For the PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT of the students, the school aims:
- to promote health, fitness, coordination, and skillful use of the body.
- to encourage good sportsmanship.
ODCS seeks to accomplish these objectives through:
- a versatile Board of Directors made up of men and women committed to the Christian faith who establish policies and make decisions for the direction of the schools.
- dedicated personnel – Christian administrators, teachers, and support staff who are well-trained in their respective fields.
- a flexible curriculum – stressing mastery of basic skills and full development of individual talents relating all learning to God’s Word.
- activities – student government, clubs, athletics, and fine arts to supplement the classroom experience and develop individual interest.
- a diversified student body – open to all without regard to race or nationality.
- adequate buildings and facilities – appropriate to broad educational purposes.
- cooperative parents – supportive of school policies and programs, and participating with the schools in the educational activities of their children.
