Meet Your 2012-2013 School Board Members
Randy Crowder
Randy, chairman of the ODCS school board, joined the ODCS school board in 2012 and is currently serving as the board chairman. Randy has been married to his wife Michelle for 23 years. They have two daughters who both graduated from ODCS and a son who is currently attending. All of their children have attended ODCS since kindergarten. In addition, Randy and Michelle are the guardians of their niece and nephew whom both attend ODCS. Michelle works for the Elyria City School district but tutors on-site at the ODCS campus. Randy works as a technology solution architect with PNC Bank and has held various technical and leadership positions in the information technology field during the course of his career. Randy and Michelle are both graduates of Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. Randy's undergraduate degree is in Computer Science and he is also a graduate of the Case Western Reserve Weatherhead School of Management where he earned an MBA in Finance. The Crowder family resides in Elyria where they are actively involved at the Church of the Open Door. In addition, both Randy and Michelle are active runners and can often be spotted running through the local neighborhoods or trails. Randy firmly believes that "the Christ-centered education at ODCS has helped our children develop a personal relationship with Jesus and a solid theological understanding of their faith. We couldn't be happier with how ODCS has helped challenge our children to grow academically and spiritually. It's a joy and a privilege to help the ODCS legacy continue for other families."
Todd Wright
Todd, vice chairman of the ODCS school board, joined the school board in 2010. He and his wife, Sue, have been married for over 20 years, and have three children who attend Open Door Christian Schools. The Wrights reside in Avon and are members of Church of the Open Door and are active in various church ministries as well as coaching for ODCS. Todd currently works as a Territory Manager for Action Fabricators. Previously he held the position of General Manager of North American Commercial Operations for Prayon Incorporated (International Chemical manufacturer). Todd and his wife are both graduates of Taylor University. Todd received his Bachelor of Science in Business Systems from Taylor, and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
Jon Phillips
Jon, secretary of the ODCS school board, was a member of the school board from 2001-2003 and returned to serve in 2006. Jon has been married to his wife Wendi for 23 years. They have a daughter who attends ODCS and a son who graduated in 2012. Both children have attended ODCS since Kindergarten. The Phillips family resides in Elyria and attends Church of the Open Door. Wendi serves on the staff at ODCS as a library manager. Jon is a Technology Manager with PNC Bank. Jon, originally from northwestern Pennsylvania, and Wendi, originally from western Ohio, met at Taylor University where their son Preston is now a freshman. Both he and Wendi enjoy traveling, dining out, and spending time with family and friends. “ODCS has played a significant role in our family’s life,” says Jon. “The Christ-centered education upon which ODCS’ past, present, and future is founded has impacted our children and has played a part in both of them accepting Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. The education that has been provided also has exceeded our expectations. We are so thankful for the staff and administration and for the personal interest they show our children.”
Susan Elder
Susan joined the ODCS school board in February of 2008. She and her husband Rich, an airline pilot and retired officer in the Air Force Reserves, have been married for 26 years. They have two children both of whom attended ODCS from preschool through their graduation. The Elders reside in Avon and attend Providence Church. Susan serves as Director of Marketing for Jenne, Inc., a national distributor of telecommunications and technology products. She is a graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Public and Corporate Communication, dually majoring in Journalism and a minor in Business. "Deuteronomy 6:7 commands parents to teach Godly principles to their children 'when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.' Simply stated, we are constantly and consistently to train our children in what is right, wherever we are and in whatever we are doing. In other words," says Susan, "every Christian family should have the conviction of giving their children a Christian education."
Brian Gevry
Brian joined the ODCS school board in 2006. He and his wife Kendra live in North Ridgeville and attend North Olmsted Friends Church. Brian and Kendra have two daughters who have graduated from ODCS. Their son and niece currently attend ODCS. Brain is employed by Titanium Asset Management Corp. where he serves as the Chief Investment Officer, Chief Operating Officer and a member of the board of directors. Additionally, he serves as the CEO of Titanium’s subsidiary Boyd Watterson Asset Management LLC. Titanium is a $9.5 billion multi strategy investment management firm that maintains investment operations in Milwaukee, Chicago, Cleveland, Charlotte and Sarasota. Brain obtained an MBA from Case Western Reserve University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from Cleveland State University.
Scott Giesbrecht
Scott joined the ODCS school board in 2008. Scott and his wife Mona met in the halls of ODCS in Junior High, dated throughout High School, and have been married for 13 years. Five of their seven children currently attend ODCS. The two youngest will join their siblings when old enough to attend. The Giesbrechts reside in Oberlin and attend church at Grace Church of North Olmsted, where Scott serves as a deacon. Since graduating from Malone College in 1998, Scott has been working with Green Circle Growers where his responsibilities include sales, marketing, and distribution. Scott enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and golfing. One of Scott’s favorite verses is Romans 12:2: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Jamie Jackson
Jaime Vice Chair of Education Corporate Board and ex officio school board member, joined the Board in May, 2010 upon his appointment as the Executive Pastor of Church of the Open Door. He and his wife, Ann Marie, have been married for over 19 years and have four children attending ODCS High School. As Executive Pastor of Church of the Open Door, Jamie is responsible for church operations and assists the Senior Pastor in overseeing the life and direction of the church toward the goal of “leading people in the adventure of becoming like Christ.” Jamie received his Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia. Jamie was born in Fairview Park, Ohio and raised in Vermilion, Ohio. He attended ODCS as a student from 1979-1984 and came to know Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord through the ministry of ODCS and Church of the Open Door. Jamie’s prayer is “that ODCS will help every student experience life to the fullest through a continual relationship with Jesus Christ - John 10:10."
Susan Schrodt
Susan joined the ODCS school board in 2006. She has been married to her husband, Daniel, for over 23 years. They have two daughters, both of whom attend ODCS. Susan and her family reside in LaGrange and attend Church of the Open Door where Susan enjoys Ladies Bible Study. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for over 20 years, Susan specialized in serving nonprofit organizations. Susan obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in accounting and equestrian science from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. With this background, she contributes to the financial and operational aspects of the school and serves on the Finance Committee. Susan is an avid horse lover who has owned and shown horses for over 30 years. “My desire is to do God’s will here at ODCS for His glory and for the furtherance of Christian education,” says Susan. |
